Introduction

From the first time I laid eyes on the original OCZ XTC ram cooler, I knew I had to have one. With my habit of overclocking, RAM heat was always a concern and I had been primarily keeping chips cool with an 80mm fan and some zip-ties. When I spotted the first XTC cooler in a case mod picture thread, the chrome polished body and LEDs attracted me like a moth to a flame. Within a week I had located and attained my XTC cooler, and it has been in my main system for generations of builds.

OCZ has quite the reputation for coming up with cutting edge technology that is both functional and stylish. From some of the best looking ram heat spreaders to the brainy Neural Impulse Actuator, OCZ has always brought nifty gadgetry to the masses. Today we will be getting to check out the new revision of the XTC ram cooler, the OCZ XTC v2!

Packaging is straight-forward, and installation instructions are on the back. The revision 2 utilizes the same low-noise blue LEDs that the original cooler used. The main difference here is that the revision 2 now has a two-speed switch incorporated into the cooler's body. The construction of the XTC v2 is a bit lighter than the original due to the use of black brushed aluminum instead of the chrome.
