First Look Cont.

The My Book is small enough to take nearly anywhere; just put it in a backpack or laptop bag and go. We measured the unit at about 7" in length, 5.5" in width and 2.25" depth.

You may have noticed that the My Book did not include a driver or software disc. With the My Book, there aren't any discs from which to install. Plug in the power adapter and connect the USB cable from the My Book to your computer.

You will then be prompted to install the Western Digital Backup software. You also have the option of installing bonus software from Google, registering your product and viewing the user guide in PDF format. Do note that you are required to "install" the drive first using the USB cable, then if you want, shut down the My Book and connect the FireWire cable.

Next up we take a look at the Western Digital Backup software then run some performance tests on the My Book...
