Base

As we saw earlier, the VF900-Cu incorporates 2 unequal length heatpipes that draw heat away from the base and out to the edge of the full circumference copper fins.

The 9 maintains the same low 30mm profile as the 7 however Zalman still advises not to use the adjacent slot to avoid interference problems. You can see here that Zalman does make use of some aluminum on this cooler after all, but only on the top of the base and the mounting points, which are not heat-related areas.

From the rear we see that the base is set off-center slightly in order to accommodate most card designs. There are also a multitude of attachment points to enable compatibility with many different models. But wait a minute, I thought you said that copper base was something to gawk at? Doesn't look very shiny to me...

Oh yeah baby, now that's what I'm talking about. That base is so gorgeous I can't wait to get my thermal paste on it.

The heatpipes are soldered to each individual fin and also to each other at the ends where they overlap.

I could sit and drool over this thing all day, but that wouldn't make for a very interesting review... let's see about getting the 9 installed.
