Introduction

When Shawn asked me recently if I was interested in reviewing any Zalman products, I was nice and didn't tell him that was a silly question. Of course I want to review Zalman stuff. Although, after I thought about it, I realized that I have only reviewed two Zalman products, both VGA coolers. When he mentioned that one of them would be a VGA cooler, I got really excited.

The two Zalman products I have reviewed are the VF-700Cu, and the Fatal1ty FS-V7. It has been over three years since I reviewed the former, and nearly three for the latter. Both coolers still run every day and I was so impressed with them, I bought another VF-700Cu about a year ago when I built another rig. I did consider other Zalman coolers, but I guess I didn't consider any other brand. Both coolers run silent, and both keep overclocked GPUs, presently on a 6600GT, 7600GT and 7900GS, at sub-40C temps.

Recently, I reviewed the Zotac geForce 8600GTS. I started to place one of the Zalman coolers on it, but I didn't have any extra ramsinks, so I decided to wait on the VF-1000. I will compare the VF-1000 to the stock cooler.

Of course, Zalman needs no introduction. They are well known for their high quality products, that combine effectiveness with silence. I expect the VF-1000 to live up to the high expectations I have for Zalman products.



The VF-1000 comes packaged in this attractive hanging box. It has pretty much all of the information you'd need or expect on the outside. Zalman also proudly displays the excellent lapping job on the base, via an opening in the rear of the box.
