The laptop used during testing is a somewhat-antiquated IBM Thinkpad T40 1.5GHz Pentium M, 2x512MB DDR-333, 30GB PATA SSD and 14" XGA display running the RC build 7100 of Windows 7. All power-saving features and options were disabled during testing in order keep the computer active (idle) until the battery could no longer power the system.
With fan specs identical to that used in the Massive23 CS, the ST performs the same as in our previous review. As you can see from the graph, battery runtime was impacted roughly 18% when using the Massive23.
Unfortunately CPU and system temps on the test laptop were not affected by use of the Massive23 ST either. However the bottom of the laptop did remain cooler. The design of the Thinkpad simply does not benefit from cooling the underside of the case.
Let's wrap things up with some final thoughts and conclusion.
