Introduction

Over the past year we have seen more and more USB 3.0 products hitting the market. Everything from adapters to external enclosures have come across the desk in a variety of implementations. Now board and case manufacturers are starting to get on the bandwagon with USB 3.0 ports on both the front and back of a case as well as headers on some of the newer boards.

Today we are taking a look at the Max 5G from Thermaltake. The Max 5G is taking a different approach to the external drive enclosures. Where most others seem to aim at making the enclosure as compact as possible, the Max 5G is adding additional cooling in for good measure. This should have an impact on long-term drive health if warm hard drives concern you. The Max 5G comes with dual 80mm fans and blue LED highlights in addition to its USB 3.0 connectivity.

Follow along as we take a closer look and put this enclosure through the paces.
