I will be installing the HR-03 Plus on one of my OCZ Technology 8800 GTX cards. This card follows the NVIDIA reference design and will make the perfect candidate for a cooling upgrade. The stock cooling option is pretty large, and while it is relatively quiet, it's somewhat lacking in the cooling department (as are most stock 8800 GTX coolers).
The first thing we need to do is remove the stock heatsink. 11 spring-loaded screws on the back of the card and two more screws on the PCI bracket are used to mount the stock cooler on the card. Remove these and carefully pull the heatsink from the card. You may need to slightly twist the heatsink, since the thermal paste on the core can sometimes create a strong seal.
The core will have plenty of left-over thermal paste from the stock cooler. To clean this, use a high concentration of isopropyl alcohol (I use 91%) and several Q-Tips. You will need to clean the GPU core, HSI core and all of the memory chips.
Once you have these clean, it's time to install the HSI heatsink and RAMsinks. The HSI heatsink has two push-pins that hold the sink in place. The RAMsinks use double-sided tape.
Here we have the HSI and RAMsinks installed. Move ahead as we mount the HR-03 Plus and wrap up installation...
