First Look

The HR-03 Plus comes with (almost) everything you need to get up and running: the HR-03 Plus heatsink, a mounting bracket, X-shaped backplate with screws, screw caps and rubber washers, RAMsinks, thermal paste, fan clips, instruction manual and a Thermalright sticker. Missing from the box is a 92mm cooling fan. This is done intentionally, as it helps to keep costs down and allows you the freedom to use any fan you want.

As mentioned earlier, the Plus version is nearly identical to previous models in the HR-03 series. Aside from the two added heatpipes, nothing really stands out as "new or interesting" in terms of overall design. The copper base is used to pull heat directly from the G80 core. From there, it is transported up to the large array of aluminum fins via the heatpipes, at which time is expelled using a fan.

The base of the HR-03 Plus is not overly shiny as we have seen from previous Thermalright offerings, but it does feel smooth to the touch. Continue on as we cover installation...
