Introduction

Nearly two years ago we reviewed the third generation RAVEN RV03 case and gave it high marks for its quality and innovative features. The previous generation RV01 and RV02 all shared the same bottom-up hardware and cooling orientation, rotating the components 90 to place the traditional "rear" of the motherboard with its I/O connections along the top of the case and cooling fans in the bottom blowing straight up.

For the introduction of its fourth generation RAVEN case, SilverStone has opted to switch back to a more traditional layout with cooling fans moving air from front to rear and hardware located in its usual position within the chassis. They did, however, keep the BTX-style format with main access from the right side of the case rather than the left. The result is a case more narrow and shorter in depth than its predecessor while standing a little over two inches taller.

Options are once again relegated to a single choice of color, which is fine as long as you like black. The right side panel is available with or without a window. New for the RV04 is a front panel door, the first to grace any RAVEN case yet. Can the fourth generation RAVEN carry on the well-respected name of its predecessors? Join us as we aim to find out.
