If you are a regular to this site, you may have noticed that we have been expanding our coverage over the past few months to include more hardware-based reviews. This is a direct result of several new partnerships that we established while covering the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. One of these new partners is ASUS, a leading motherboard manufacturer that I am sure you are already familiar with.
ASUS had a huge setup at CES, displaying both consumer electronics such as laptops and netbooks as well as individual components like graphics cards and motherboards. We were naturally more interested in the component side of things and were given a full tour of their new and upcoming products.
One of the motherboards we looked at was the P7P55D-E Premium, a P55 Express chipset board with a wealth of features including SATA 6.0 Gb/s support. Today we will be looking at the Deluxe version of this board that includes native USB 3.0 support as well as a few other differences.
The P7P55D-E Deluxe arrived in the colorful blue retail box seen above. The box is covered with features and specifications on the front and back with even more found inside the flippable lid.
The retail offering includes the board itself, four regular SATA cables (two with right-angle connectors, all with secure locking tabs on each end), two SATA 6.0 Gb/s cables (one with right-angle connector, both with secure locking tabs on each end), SLI bridge, I/O shield, one IDE cable, a TurboV Remote, two Q-connectors, expansion module with two USB 2.0 and one eSATA connector and user guide. Not pictured is the TurboV EVO user guide, other supporting documentation and a disc with drivers and software.
Let's move ahead and check out the features and specifications of this board.
