The OtterBox Commuter Series for iPhone 5 consists of three different components: a screen protector, an inner silicone layer and a hard polycarbonate outer layer. The screen protector (not pictured) is completely optional and simply adheres to the front of your iPhone like any other third party screen protector would.
As with past iterations, the Commuter Series is designed to offer a solid layer of protection in a package that's still slim enough to slide into a pocket. It's not near as bulky as the Defender Series that most associate with the OtterBox name. Essentially it's just a smaller Defender case without the integrated screen protector and the belt holster accessory.
A quick tour of the Commuter shows the iconic rear window to showcase the Apple logo, a large cutout to accommodate the rear camera and flash as well as all of the necessary slots and cutouts around the perimeter of the case for access to various buttons and ports. There are even flaps that cover the bottom-mounted headphone jack and Lightning connector to keep dust and debris out. It's worth pointing out that unlike some other OtterBox offerings, this case is not waterproof or water resistant so be sure to keep out of harm's way with regards to H2O.
Installation is just ahead.
