Conclusion

The PC2-9200 FlexXLC really shined in our testing here today, making it the fastest memory we have tested to date. Everything about this memory is likable: great looks, a unique design that offers two methods of cooling, great default performance and most importantly, a good deal of headroom for overclocking! During testing, the modules never got above luke-warm to the touch (granted, I do have good case cooling; results may vary with sub-par case airflow). The ability to watercool the memory right out of the package is nice, but of course not necessary. I highly doubt that liquid cooling these modules would result in any higher clock speeds. Top end overclock results (1240 MHz @ default timings) were pretty impressive, but what really had me floored was the ability to tighten these modules all the way down to 3-3-3-3 1T stable.

As mentioned earlier, my only concern with these modules is the physical ability to fit them in your system. If you are using a CPU cooler that is very large, like the Ultra Products ChillTEC cooler, you may run into clearance issues.

As of writing, pricing on these modules is not as high as I would have anticipated, coming in at $235.99 at a popular online retailer. In my opinion, picking up a kit of this memory and overclocking it is much more attractive than spending more than double this amount for a faster kit that may or may not offer much overclocking headroom.

OCIA.net has awarded the OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 FlexXLC Edition memory our seal of approval.
