The Agility 2 comes packaged similar to other OCZ drives, boxed in a hard foam lining with installation guide. Along the same tradition as bumper stickers that brag about kids, pets or driving prowess, OCZ includes a humorous case sticker that proudly proclaims "My SSD is faster than your HDD". Also included are mounting screws and a 2½" to 3½" adapter for mounting the Agility 2 in a desktop case.
The Agility 2 uses the same green, silver and black coloration as the previous model, and features a rugged aluminum casing with textured painted finish. OCZ graces the Agility 2 with a three year warranty and rates it for two million hours MTBF. Performance ratings for the majority of capacities in this model are up to 285MB/s read, 275MB/s write, with sustained write up to 250MB/s and a random 4K write of 10,000 IOPS. On paper, it is this last IOPS specification that appears to be the sole difference between the Agility 2 and the Vertex 2.
Inside the Agility 2 we find the same SandForce SF-1222TA3-SBH controller and 16 Intel 29F32G08AAMDB 4Gb memory chips that were used in the Vertex 2. Comparing photos of the two PCBs side-by-side, even the physical layout appears identical. For some reason however, OCZ considers the Agility 2 more of a "mainstream" drive and the Vertex 2 a "performance" drive, presumably due to the Vertex 2's greater 50,000 IOPS rating.
Continue as we install the Agility 2 and prepare for some testing.
