The NH-L12 shares a similar dual-fan design to the larger NH-C14 in the same top-flow C-Style, but uses a 120mm and 92mm over and under fan rather than the larger 140mm units. Both fans can be installed for maximum cooling, the top fan can be used for more motherboard clearance, or the bottom fan can be used to achieve a lower profile. Both fans offer 4-pin PWM and low-noise adapter cables to allow customized control.
The top 120mm NF-F12 PWM fan features built-in rubber pads at each of the four corner mounting points, while the bottom 92mm NF-B9 PWM rests against anti-vibration rubber strips set into the fins. A slim aluminum fin design with four copper heatpipes and a nickel-plated base takes care of wicking heat away from your processor.
Given the smaller size of the NH-L12 and goal of quiet operation, Noctua recommends installing with 95W TDP or lower CPUs, particularly if using only one fan. Good chassis ventilation can assist some with CPU cooling, however many micro-ATX and HTPC cases aren't necessarily built with the absolute best airflow in mind.
Let's get the NH-L12 installed and perform some testing.
