Logitech is well known for producing some of the finest computer peripherals ranging from mice to computer speakers, so I don't think a detailed description of their track record is necessary. Instead I want to jump right in and analyze their MX line of mice. Logitech has used the MX prefix on several of their optical mice over the years, all ending with a numerical suffix (400, 610, 1000, etc.). Logitech's latest cordless desktop mouse takes the name of MX Revolution, which logically would put an end to the use of the MX label for future product titles. The MX Revolution has actually been on the market for quite some time now, with a release date of August 24, 2006. To be honest I hadn't heard any buzz about the MX Revolution until a month or so ago. Much like their diNovo Edge Keyboard, Logitech describes the MX Revolution as the "World's Most Advanced Mouse". While the diNovo Edge was a very nice keyboard with some equally nice features, it did fall flat in a few areas. With that said, join along as I take a look at the MX Revolution to see if it can truly earn the title of World's Most Advanced Mouse.
Logitech sticks with their traditional green / black color scheme for the MX Revolution. The front panel of the box is a flap that lifts up to reveal the mouse and USB receiver as well as the rest of the package contents which are tucked away behind the mouse. The back of the box shows a detailed look at the mouse and points out some of its unique features. The left side of the package shows the MX Revolution and the included battery cradle while the right side covers more features and specs. A complete list of features and specs is provided below, borrowed from Logitech's website.
Logitech has added some very "Revolution"-ary features to this mouse, such as SmartShift Technology, Hyper-fast scrolling and the Document quick-flip wheel on top of a standard array of features we have come to love in Logitech mice. I will discuss these features and more a bit later, but for now let's move ahead and check out the package contents.
