On the bottom half of the board we find the expansion slots, from top to bottom: PCIe x1, PCIe x16, two more PCIe x1 slots, another PCIe x16 (double spaced from the first) and two legacy PCI slots.
Across the very bottom of the board are the following connections and buttons, from left to right: front panel audio header, S/PDIF header, serial port connector, power button, reset button, USB 3.0 header, three USB 2.0 headers and front panel button / LED headers. Noticeably absent is a FireWire header.
Along the right side of the board are the SATA connectors. The four white connectors signify SATA 6g while the black connectors represent standard SATA 3g. The top six headers are supported by the Z68 chipset and the bottom two are run from the Marvell 9128 controller.
The rear I/O panel reveals the following connections, from left to right: unified PS/2 mouse and keyboard connector, two USB 2.0 connectors, clear CMOS button, coaxial S/PDIF-out, optical S/PDIF out, two additional USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, Ethernet jack, two USB 3.0 ports, a VGA port, DVI-D port and six audio ports (line-in, line-out, Mic, RS-out, CS-out, SS-out).
Normally there isn't much to see on the back of the board, but notice how close one of the screws for the board heatsinks is to the backplate area. This will present an issue as get to hardware installation which is up next.
