Specifications

The Kingwin EZ-Dock ships with the docking station base unit, AC power adapter, A-B USB and eSATA cables, instruction manual and software/driver CD. The manual is little more than a fold-out pamphlet and contains descriptions and diagrams of the package contents and how to connect the EZ-Dock to your computer.

The dock itself is similar in appearance to other units, comprised of a base unit with a slot in the top to insert the drive. Power and drive activity LEDs adorn the front along with the one-touch backup button. The rear houses the on/off switch, power jack and ports for USB or eSATA connection.

Unlike some other designs, the EZ-Dock does not have a folding flap to adjust the slot size for 2.5" and 3.5" drives, so when inserting 2.5" drives care must be taken to align the drive properly with the connectors in the base. This also allows dust and potentially other foreign matter to settle into the opening and does not provide a very stable platform for the smaller drives.

Continue ahead to testing and some final thoughts.
