A Closer Look

The Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe SSD model SHPM2280P2H/240G (with HHHL Adapter) ships in a foam lined retail box with the HHHL adapter card, featuring both full and half-height riser plates, warranty info, HyperX graphic sticker and an activation license key for Acronis True Image HD software.

The drive comes preinstalled in the adapter card and has the full height riser plate attached. Only one screw holds the drive in place and two screws attach the riser plate. There is no external interface so the riser plate is simply a blank bracket used to hold the card into a PCIe slot. The HHHL card has mounting holes for 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 size drives, where the first number indicates the width (22mm) and the second number represents the length.

The 240GB version of the Predator drive we have for review has the Marvell 88SS9293 controller, two Kingston D2516EC4BXGGB 512MB DDR3L-1600 memory chips and eight Toshiba TH58TEG8DDKBA8C Advanced 19nm Toggle flash NAND. The outside or top facing side is covered with a HyperX logo and specification sticker.

Let's get the Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe SSD installed and tested.
