Introduction

J&W Technology is a name I was not familiar with prior to seeing their motherboards listed on Geeks.com. My first thought was that this was some recent startup company, however J&W has been around since 1994 and currently sell 450,000 units monthly. The reason I hadn't heard of them previously is that until just recently they have not had any distributors outside of Europe, Asia and Australia. J&W is apparently looking to change this as a few of their products have popped up on North American e-tailer sites like Geeks.

The J&W product I have for review today is their JW-RS780UVD-AM2+ motherboard. This is a micro ATX board utilizing the AMD 780G chipset, and supports all AM2 and AM2+ processors that are not 125W or higher TDP. While this excludes top-of-the-line models such as the 6400+ X2 and 9850 X4, there are many other dual, tri and quad core CPU's that are at or below the 100W TDP level. The AMD 780G chipset features the latest HT 3.0 and PCIe 2.0, support for DDR2-1066 memory, onboard Radeon 3200 DX10 graphics with 64Mb SidePort memory, and HDMI and HDCP ready.

Join me as I take a closer look at the J&W RS780UVD motherboard.
