The NexStar Hard Drive Dock is a simple affair. The dock itself is white with a power button and HDD LED on the front. On the rear are ports for the power supply, a USB cable and an eSATA cable.


On the top of the Dock is an opening to insert either a 3.5” or 2.5” hard drive. Inside the slot are connectors for SATA data and SATA power.

There is a foldaway “trap door” to support a 2.5” drive - the door folds inward when inserting a 3.5” drive. In the bottom of the slot is a plastic ejection device that pushes downward when a drive is inserted, and the ejection button on the top of the dock pops out. To remove the drive, just push down on the ejection button.

There are rubber feet on the dock to keep it from sliding around on your desk.


Included with the dock is a USB cable, eSATA cable, and an eSATA PCI expansion bracket in case your motherboard doesn't have an eSATA port. Very thoughtful of Vantec to include the latter. Also included is a power supply, driver mini-disk, and a user's manual.
