NZXT is primarily a case manufacturer, however they do also produce the occasional power supply. Historically speaking, it seems they come out with a new design roughly every two years, the last being their Performance Power series, which did not meet basic 80Plus efficiency levels. With their new HALE90 lineup, made by Taiwanese OEM manufacturer Super Flower, NZXT takes home the Gold, surpassing the requirements for 80Plus Gold certification and nearly reaching those of Platinum.
The HALE90 750W power supply is slightly longer than your average 750-class ATX sized unit, but certainly still within reasonable dimensions that should have no problems fitting in most mid-tower or full-tower size cases. The single 140mm fan runs virtually silent and even when the unit is under heavy load there's no noticeable change in the volume. Counter to being more efficient is producing less heat, so the HALE90 could also cut down on temperatures inside your case. And the flat, molded modular cable design makes bending and routing wires less of a hassle, possibly helping to improve airflow.
Compared to previous NZXT power supplies, the HALE90 750W offers a big improvement in efficiency, while keeping the price at a very reasonable level. I found the HALE90 750W online in the $140 to $160 range, making it the least expensive 80Plus Gold rated power supply I could find in the 750W class. Coupled with its stable power, flexible modular cable design, quiet operation and five year warranty, the HALE90 750W looks to be a great buy. Only one question NZXT, why white?
OCIA.net awards the NZXT HALE90 750W power supply our Gold Seal of Approval.
