I'll be honest, GlacialTech was not a name I was familiar with, although they've been around since 2001, and their website shows more than 100 different products for everything ranging from Socket 370 up through 478 and 775 on the Intel side and 462 (A) up to 754/939 and AM2 for AMD. They have offices in Taiwan, China and Germany, but apparently nothing in the USA, which may explain why they're not well known here. Following the release last month of their 5610 series of 80mm upright coolers, GlacialTech announces their latest 92mm 5710 Silent and PWM designs. It's these two coolers that I'll be taking a look at today.
The Igloo 5710 Silent and PWM arrive in virtually identical boxes, with only a checkbox on the side to indicate which version is which. They're compatible with Intel Socket 775 and AMD 754/939/AM2 and come with hardware for either mounting. GlacialTech claims less material for less weight, less noise and better quality. Looking over the specs on the box, the Silent fan is rated at only 19dB, and the PWM a max of 29dB, so the low noise claim definitely has some merit.
