Both the Frio Advanced and Extreme coolers offer similar specification to the original Frio and Frio OCK coolers. The Advanced uses the same single tower fin configuration and five heatpipe design, and appears to be aimed midway between the Frio and Frio OCK in price and performance. The Extreme however takes on a whole new approach with dual banks of fins fed by opposite ends of six heatpipes and utilizes larger 140mm fans. The Extreme is claimed to handle up to 250W TDP, ten more than the previous Frio OCK. Note that the 220W TDP specification for the Advanced contradicts the packaging and online advertised 230W limit. This discrepancy is likely due to an out-of-date specification sheet.
Obviously as Intel's and AMD's highest rated processors haven't topped 140W TDP, the handling capability of the Frio Advanced and Extreme are geared towards overclockers.
Let's take a closer look at these coolers, starting with the Frio Advanced.
