Included in the box is the Ultra-X heatsink itself, a tube of AS5, installation manual and all of hardware needed to install the heatsink. The Ultra-X has two separate sets of mounting hardware: one for AMD Socket 754/939 and one for Intel Socket LGA 775. Also present is an adjustable fan speed controller which mounts into a spare PCI slot.





As you can see, the Ultra-X is a very large heatsink. The base of the unit is copper with aluminum pins directly above it. Four heatpipes carry heat to the upper deck of the heatsink, which consists of several rows of aluminum fins. The fins are "boxed-in" on the sides to aid in air flow. A 120mm fan sits atop the aluminum platform and is positioned to blow air down onto the fins.





Here we have a closer look at the bottom of the Ultra-X and the copper base. The mirror-like finish on the copper base is fantastic and should provide excellent heat transfer. Next up, installation...
