The OCZ EliteXStream 800, along with the 1kW model, has not yet received SLI certification by nVidia. It usually takes several months after the release of a new PSU for certification. Looking at the specs of those already certified, the 800 watt model will likely be certified for a pair of 8800GTXs.

I am very impressed with this power supply. After reviewing power supplies with both multiple and single +12v rails, I have decided that I prefer a single rail. In similar testing with only one midrange GPU, multiple rail power supplies usually drop .5v or more, but the single rail PSUs remain at the same voltage. Even a pair of GPUs only moved the EliteXStream 800 a mere .06v, which was already the amount of flutter.

The OCZ800EXS looks good. The cables are quite long, which will not only make it work for a full tower, but will also help cable management; when the cables are longer than just long enough, they are easier to hide. There is a full compliment of connectors - actually most power supplies only have six each Molex and SATA power connectors, where as this power supply has eight of each.

Of course, many people prefer modular power supplies, and the EliteXStream isn't. Personally, I have decided that it doesn't matter to me. I've had both, and have gotten pretty accustomed to hiding the cables on non-modular power supplies. OCZ does make larger PSUs that are modular, the ModXStream series.

The OCZ EliteXStream 800 sells for $179.99 at a popular online retailer, which is about average or a little below for a high quality, 80plus certified, 800 watt non-modular power supply. Add to that a five year warranty (three years is the industry standard), OCZ's reputation for quality, and the OCZ800EXS is definitely a value.
