The Diablotek 8600GT 1GB comes in a small box with simple but attractive artwork. On the back, you'll find the model number and description of the card inside. The card comes with all of the essentials, and not much more. Inside the box, there is minimal padding, and the card comes bundled with: a drivers CD, a manual, an S-Video cable, and a component to S-Video cable.
The actual card is quite small. Unlike all of the cards you're used to seeing these days, the 8600GT requires no extra PCI-express power connector, and only occupies one expansion slot. The card also is quite short compared to other cards and should not have any trouble fitting in any case, be it mATX, HTPC, or anything else that's not slim form-factor. It would have been nice to see two DVI ports here, but there are only DVI, VGA, and S-Video out ports on this card. The back of the card has the obligatory serial number and warranty stickers if you ever want to register your card or need technical support.
Diablotek included drivers for almost all of their cards on their drivers CD, which is really convenient for their production, and also for any customer who has more than one of their cards. Installation is very straightforward, and the drivers don't come with any sort of bloatware, which provides a certain relief. Even the NVIDIA Control Panel is very lightweight.
Testing coming up just ahead.
