The system that the Corsair H50 is installed on includes the following:

AMD 6400+ X2 Black Edition
Biostar TF570 SLI
Lian-Li BTX style case

The 6400+ BE is a 90nm 125W TDP Windsor dual core that uses 1.4v by default and is overclocked with 1.5v on occasion, resulting in temps that can make or break a cooler. It's not unusual for an average performing air cooler to be unable to prevent temps from climbing above 60 C at which point the system becomes unstable. During the NorthQ review we used this same system configuration and managed to get mid to upper 30s at idle and high 40s to low 50s at load. I suspect we'll see similar results from the H50.


As expected, our H50 results are nearly identical to the NorthQ temperatures. Since both use the same Asetek design it's no surprise. In comparison to many air coolers these results are very good, besting those from such companies as Zalman, Cooler Master and others. However in some cases we have also seen high end air coolers that could match these results, albeit usually with a lot more noise. In any case, a maximum load temperature only in the low 50s is good by any standard of cooling.
