Introduction

Three years ago we here at OCIA.net were introduced to CoolIT Systems through their Freezone and Eliminator CPU water cooling kits. Both of these coolers featured a pre-filled and sealed liquid cooled system along with a thermal electric cooler or TEC, and both received our Seal of Approval for their performance and ease of installation. These kits also came with a hefty price tag however, at the time they ran in the $200 to $300 neighborhood, likely out of the price range of some prospective buyers.

To meet the demands of customers shopping in the sub-$100 market, CoolIT later released the Domino, a similar all-in-one liquid cooling solution without the added expense of a TEC, but with the added features of an LCD monitoring and control panel. Unfortunately our Rutledge Feman did not find the Domino to his liking, citing its lack of expandability and mediocre performance as little recompense for its bottom dollar price point.

New for this year CoolIT introduces the ECO Advanced Liquid Cooling system, a simplified version of the Domino without the LCD control panel. Similar to Asetek designs, such as the Corsair H50 and NorthQ Siberian Tiger, the CoolIT ECO system consists of a combination pump and block, a 120mm fan and heat exchanger, and the tubing to connect them. Like the Domino, this pre-filled and self-contained system appears easy to install and maintain, and the target price keeps it affordable for the average user. Will the performance of the ECO vindicate it from the Domino? Join me as I aim to find out!
