Introduction

I've looked at several gaming headsets over the years and have found that most don't live up to my expectations. It's not that I'm an audiophile that only accepts perfection; I simply appreciate a good sounding headset that is comfortable to wear for hours on end. You'd think this wouldn't be too much to ask but the majority of the time, it is.

Cooler Master sent over a pre-production sample of their new CM Storm Sirus 5.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset for evaluation recently. This wired headset certainly has a lot of promise, with eight speakers (four per side), a built-in microphone, optional ear padding, a powered desktop control panel and the option to plug directly into your sound card. More importantly, at least for me, is that the headset features over-the-ear cups. I find these types of headsets much more comfortable than on-the-ear cans which tend to cause me discomfort after a short while.

Normally I would snap photos of the retail box, but since this was sent ahead of the public release, no such packaging was available for the media. Cooler Master did, however, supply us with the box art above which is what the final packaging will look like. A list of features and specifications can be found below:
