The Cooler Master Sphere comes with mounting hardware, including various clips and backing plate, some thermal paste, an instruction sheet and the cooler itself. As the name implies, the cooler derives its name from the ball-shape of the fins. The device is topped off with a plastic cap bearing the manufacturer logo. Down in the center of the unit rests a 66x68mm radial fan that runs at only 2200rpm and a very quiet 22dBA. There is no built-in way to control fan speed, however with this silent fan there really isn't a need to.
There are four copper heatpipes incorporated into the base, which is finished in a smooth, but not polished, surface. The Sphere comes shipped with a plastic cap over the base to protect it. Normally only a thin layer of plastic sheet is found on the bottom but with the base resting semi-exposed in the box, anything the manufacturer does to help protect it prior to installation is certainly welcome.
Next up, installation.
