Conclusion

At a very fair price of just over $20 from a popular online retailer, the Notepal U2 (fan edition) is a reasonably priced notebook stand / cooler for the average sized portable. Systems larger than the standard 15.4" notebook will technically work with the NotePal but won't exactly fit properly on the deck of the stand. Smaller netbooks will fair well with the NotePal as well, however due to their lowered power consumption, the fans may not be necessary.

Speaking of fans, the two adjustable 80mm fans are a nice addition. Being able to position them exactly where you want on the underside of the U2 is something that most coolers / stands can't accomplish. The fans have a pass-through USB connector so you won't lose a port when they are in use. Furthermore, the fans are low profile and don't produce much noise.

Our main complaint with the U2 is that there isn't much "anti-slip" protection across the bottom lip of the stand. Some fold-out feet would go a long way to ensure your computer doesn't inadvertently slide off the stand.

The included safety strap is really only useful for systems 15" and under. Anything larger like a 17" model and you are out of luck.

OCIA.net awards the Cooler Master NotePal U2 our Silver Seal of Approval.
