Exterior

As mentioned previously, there are five 5" drive bays available externally. One of the filler panels is made for a 5" to 3" adapter. Although the inset doesn't fit flush, if you aren't using a floppy drive you can always change it out for one of the plain ones. The front bezel and top tray are made of plastic while the rest of the chassis is steel. The flat black finish is very textured and feels quite durable. The side panel contains a large mesh section but no window like the 932 has. The opposite side has a raised section just like the left but with a solid center and no venting.

Thumbscrews are used to hold both side panels in place, which makes removal easier. From the rear view we see the power supply opening at the bottom, just like many new case designs, although the 922 only offers this one location instead of either the top or bottom mount like the 932. There's a standard ATX size opening for the motherboard with seven riser slots, with an extra eighth non-card slot available above the others. This can be used for fan speed controllers, header extensions or other types of modules that fit in a riser but don't need direct access to a motherboard interface slot. The rear exhaust grill is stamped for a 120, 92 or 80mm fan, and two rubber grommets are pre-installed at the top for water cooling tubing.

The top rear section of the case is vented and drilled for either a single large 200mm fan or two 120mm ones. The front plastic section is solid, not vented, and is missing the bay reservoir fill opening that the HAF 932 has. The bottom of the case is fitted with four pedestal type feet and is vented for both the power supply plus an additional 120mm or 140mm fan.

The top front section contains the large power button, plus reset and fan LED on/off switch, as well as two small LEDs for power and HDD activity. The rear portion of this section is recessed slightly. The front houses headphone and microphone jacks, two USB ports and one eSATA port. The bottom of the front bezel contains non-removable mesh grills that cover the large 200mm intake fan.

Now let's take a look at the interior of the HAF 922.
