First Look

Included with the Straight Power is the power supply itself, power cable, instruction manual and a baggie of hardware. The baggie contains two sets of screws (thumb screws and regular), some zip ties and a few Velcro cable straps. The power cable included with this unit is a European style cable. Luckily I have several spare US power cables so I will have to use one of those.

The power supply itself is finished in a high gloss gunmetal paint job which looks great. The right side (or left, depending on how you look at it) of the power supply displays the typical specs sticker found on all units. This unit has four 12v rails, each sporting 18A. This should be plenty for most systems, but we will see how it performs on the highly overclocked 8800GTX SLI test system in just a bit.

The bottom of the power supply houses a low noise thermal controlled 120mm cooling fan. The exhaust from this fan is expelled from the rear of the unit through a free-flowing honeycomb style grill. Also on the rear of the PSU is the AC adapter and an on/off switch. At the opposite end of the unit, we find a large bundle of wires - some are sleeved, and it appears that some aren't. Move ahead as we take a closer look at the cables used on the Straight Power 700...
