Temps/3DMark

The X1900XTX runs very hot. The temperature is available at the Overdrive tab of the Control Center, and you could also find it in ATi Tool. It appears that it runs on a scale to keep it under 90 C; fan speed cannot be controlled with tools provided by ATi.

This temperature may seem very hot to you, and it is. The problem, however, is that the fan, in classic ATi style, is rip-roaring loud. It sounds like a plane is taking off when I turn it up to 100%.

First up in benchmarks is 3DMark.

A modest overclock yields a modest performance increase. The scores are nevertheless impressive. Real world gaming results are just ahead...
