First Look

The card comes in a regular ATi box, boasting features and a nice shot of Ruby on the back for you true ATi fanboys and girls. The card is packaged very well with foam and an anti-static bag: everything you would expect. In the box you'll find the card, a driver CD, a composite and an S-video cable, two DVI to VGA adapters and some manuals and warning labels. No surprises here.

I bought this card at NewEgg.com on August 23, 2006 for $379.99. Now, you're lucky if you can find a new one... anywhere. There are some open-box cards on NewEgg.com and eBay.com for ~$300.00, and nothing on TigerDirect.com. The card was a great bargain then, cheaper than the 7900GTX by ~$100.00 and still maintains that lead, if you can find either of them.

On the top of the card is a large cooler, with another picture of Ruby. The fan here sucks air from the case past the RAM sinks and out the back of the tower. At the front of the card you'll find the dedicated 6-pin power input and some RAMsinks. At the back end is the dual DVI output, as well as an S-video output for your VIVO needs. Finally, on the back is the brace for the heatsink and the authentic ATi sticker. Looks good so far.
