Routers typically have cryptic, archaic admin interfaces. The software onboard the Black Diamond, however, isn't the same as your typical D-Link or Linksys brick of a router.

The landing page of the admin interface is a simple network overview. You can see router status, how many and which clients are connected, and remotely reboot the unit. The little doctor on the top right gives tooltips when you hover over different items; for example, he will tell you the SSID of the 2.4GHz channel when you hover over the 2.4GHz button at the top. On the left are a few different feature options, most important of which is the “Advanced Setting” tab, which expands to provide all of the standard adjustments you're used to in a classic admin interface.

There's a different page for each of the highlight features on the router: AiDisk file sharing, UPnP USB device management, and EzQOS (easy quality of service) management. The QOS page allows for simple bandwidth monitoring and management, which is much harder to control on other consumer routers.

There's far too many pages to outline in just this review, so we've only provided a simple overview here. Software for the USB dongle is on the next page.
