The SBC-06D1S-U comes neatly and safely packed in fitted Styrofoam with a plastic protector over the main surface. Included with the drive itself is a USB cable, a quick start manual, a stand, and a DVD with lots of CyberLink software, including PowerDVD 9 for Blu-Ray playback. The drive is USB 2.0 and requires two USB ports to provide sufficient power.
A shiny piano black finish covers the entire device, prime for attracting dust and finger prints. The gray streaks glow blue when the device is powered, and the intensity is controllable by software available on the included DVD. At the front of the drive, we find a silver eject button. Just above the eject button are three green activity LEDs, and just below is the pinhole manual eject. On bottom are several identification tags, and a hole for mounting the stand. The stand and the drive itself both have rubber feet to minimize slippage and noise from vibration. Finally, around back is the mini-USB port that fits the provided cable.
Continue on as we discuss usage and draw some conclusions.
