The Apevia X-Sniper has a unique look and with five different colors to choose from they ought to have one you like. I was a little disappointed in the front panel, on their website the color appears to be a very bright lime-green, however in reality it is a noticeably darker emerald green. But otherwise the finish on the front panel and the rest of the case is very good and fit is excellent. The back side of the door is finished, so you won't see any ungainly wiring or cheap-looking plastic when you go to access your drives, and yet there are plenty of ventilation holes and mesh to provide good airflow when closed.
Having the power and reset buttons located at the very bottom of the front panel probably wasn't the best idea. I found it very inconvenient to lean way over, practically falling out of my chair, every time I wanted to turn the computer on. In contrast, having the front I/O panel at the very top front is nice if you need to have quick access for plugging external devices in, such as cameras or MP3 players. Placing the LCD display and fan control knobs here is a nice change as well, however I wish the knobs had some kind of markings on them or else only varied the voltage by half, such as from 7-12v rather than 0-12v. It looks like Apevia was going for kind of a symmetrical look, having four oversized silver round controls, one in each corner. But I think it would have been better functionally if they had just placed all of the controls at the top.
I found the X-Sniper Type G online for $79.99, which puts it right about the middle of their mid-tower price range. As I've said before, Apevia has a knack for producing quality, stylish cases at a very good price, however I have to admit that functionally the X-Sniper is not one of my favorites. However the good news is that if the minor quirks of this case bother you, there's over a hundred other Apevia selections to choose from.
Thanks to Apevia for providing the X-Sniper Type G for review.
