Conclusion

Mid-tower cases are my size of choice when it comes to design, and the style of the X-Jupiter Jr. is right up my alley. Even with side LED fan, light-up Apevia name and LCD display the overall effect is subtle and not overly gaudy or flashy. I had no real problems when it came to installation and operation, and in fact this case fits my personal taste quite nicely.

What I liked most about the X-Jupiter Jr. Type S was what I perceived to be a relatively small footprint on the outside with an ample, roomy interior. When it came to incorporating my hardware into this case, and then the case into my computing environment, the X-Jupiter Jr. just fit. Having recently relocated from a full-tower behemoth, the size of this one was a welcome relief. I prefer the style of the X-Jupiter as well, over many cases manufactured today. The LED's, fan and display are subtle, bright enough to show they're there without overpowering the room.

There's not too much I didn't like about the X-Jupiter Jr., but if I had to talk about something I'd probably mention how the tool-less riser slot hold-downs and the front panel door clips felt cheap. I'd rather have standard screws and the typical magnets to secure things in place. While I'm on the subject of the door, I'd rather it wasn't full length either, I can't see any advantage to opening the bottom of the panel and the extra layers of plastic only impede airflow. The final item, and this is more of a suggestion than a complaint, is to either include a second 120mm fan for the front-mounted intake, or relocate the existing one to the front instead of the rear. I noticed my hard drives and to some extent my whole system running slightly warmer than normal, and I think this can be contributed to the lack of cooling fans moving air from the front of the case.

From what I've seen, the X-Jupiter Junior can be had for around $75, which is probably about average for a case of this size. It's a good design with a sturdy steel frame and style that is sure to appeal to a wide variety of buyers.

Thanks to Apevia for providing the X-Jupiter Junior Type S for review.
