The NZXT Cryo LX is a heavy-duty, high-performance notebook cooler. As NZXT is all about gamers, they mainly intend it for someone that uses a notebook for gaming.
The Cryo LX does its job quite well. It moves a serious amount of air, actually cooling the notebook case rather than just blowing air towards the notebook's vents. Included is a 4-port USB hub, for those that don't have enough ports for USB devices and an on-board fan controller.
Though it has its own fan controller, the fans are still audible at low settings. The three 120mm fans are definitely overkill for the average notebook user. The Cryo LX is also big, heavy and rather bulky. Being made of sheet aluminum, you want to be pretty careful with it. Bumping it against the side of a car would definitely scratch the car's paint, etc. Though inconvenient for most people, big, aggressive and loud make it perfect for the gamer… we all tend to be a little flamboyant, to say the least.
I didn't find the Cryo LX for sale at many places in the US, though I did find it at a couple of smaller online retailers for $69.99 USD. A plastic notebook cooler with one 120mm fan costs around $30, so it's not surprising to pay that amount for this cooler. I would expect it to be a little cheaper when the larger online retailers pick it up.
