Thermalright has been a major player in the CPU cooling business for a number of years. I believe it was sometime in the fall of 2001 when I had first heard of Thermalright. The heatsink that exploded them into the market was the all-copper SK-6, a tough little screamer of a sink with a 60mm Delta on top that knocked quite a few larger heatsinks out of the top performance spots. My first experience with their products however wasn't until a little more than a year later when I picked up my first SLK-800A. I was so impressed with the cooling ability that I have used Thermalright heatsinks almost exclusively on my overclocked systems since.

Today I will be taking a look at the new SI-120, an aluminum / copper hybrid design incorporating heatpipes much like the XP-120. Unlike the XP, the finned portion of the heatsink is not directly tied to the base and relys solely on the heatpipes to convey heat away from the CPU core. This is a trend that Thermalright started with their SI-97 which has been successful in Socket A cooling. With the addition of one extra heatpipe and a much larger surface area which can accommodate 120mm fans, the SI-120 looks to be a serious cooling competitor.
