Twenty hours into the trip and we were just about to reach Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The snow had long since stopped but the roadways were still a bit treacherous. The canyon you see above led us into the heart of Albuquerque.
We made a quick McDonald's breakfast stop then hit the road once again.
Just outside of Albuquerque and you can already see the changes in the landscape.
The west side of New Mexico has some beautiful plateaus.
Another cool shot (keep in mind all of these were taken from inside the vehicle moving along at 75 mph).
Arizona had some nice scenery as well but by that point in the trip we were all so tired that we didn't bother with the camera too much.
We were hoping to make it to the Hoover Dam before sunset but that did not happen. Once through the dam security checkpoint (what a joke) and across the dam, we were less than 20 miles from our destination.
We pulled into Vegas around 6 p.m. PST (8 p.m. CST). I was completely taken back by the amazing view that we had overlooking the city. The picture here is nowhere even close to doing it justice. I plan to pick up a tripod in the next day or so and should have some really nice Vegas scenery photos to post for you guys.
This is the mobile OCIA.net setup that will be bringing you all of our CES coverage.
And that concludes our crazy 30 hour road trip. I had intended to get this post up last night, but running on nearly 40 hours without sleep... yeah, that didn't happen. We have a few errands to tend to (pick up press badge holders, etc.) before we hit the strip tonight for The Tech Zone CES Kickoff Party!
Be sure to check in on our CES Forum thread. We look forward to hearing from you all!
